Title: Grande Prairie Branch "International Paper Pulp Mill Tour"

Date/Time: January 16, 2019 at 5:15pm

Location: International Paper Pulp Mill, 10km South on Resources Road, Grande Prairie

Description: Tour the process of taking logs from our northern forests and manufacturing world class pulp. Did you know this local mill produces the best tensile strength of any pulp made in the world? You likely use the GP pulp every day in paper products from toilet paper to coffee filters.

The Grande Prairie pulp mill, owned by International Paper, was built and started production in 1972. The mill was originally built by Proctor and Gamble who researched where the best location would be for a mill based on the pulp they needed for their paper products. The mill was later sold to Weyerhaeuser who operated it until 2016 when it was sold to International Paper. International Paper is one of the world's leading producers of fiber-based packaging, pulp and paper located in more than 24 countries around the world.
