Title: The dreaded issue of all…weeds!

Speakers: Nicole Kimmel, Aquatic Invasive Species Specialist, Alberta Environment and Parks

Nicole Kimmel, B.Sc., is an Aquatic Invasive Species Specialist with Alberta Environment & Parks and has worked for the provincial government since graduating from the U of A eighteen years ago. She up until recently supported the Alberta Weed Control Act through various extension activities and diagnostic services with Alberta Agriculture & Forestry. Nicole is notorious for driving her family crazy by looking for invasive species on family adventures. She is passionate, and lives to talk about invasive species, outside of home, as much as she can.

The Calgary Environmental Network (CEN) invites you to a presentation on April 18, 2018 entitled “The dreaded issue of all…weeds!” by Nicole Kimmel (Alberta Agriculture and Forestry). Join Nicole Kimmel, former Provincial Weed Specialist, newly appointed Aquatic Invasive Species Specialist, as she covers the identification of the top weed species encountered on Alberta reclamation sites. Effective weed removal timing and methods to target the weaknesses of the most encountered weedy species, as well as tips on seedling identification and how to tell apart easily mistaken species will be covered. Ending with a quick discussion under her new role of aquatic invasive species. If you think you aren't affected, Nicole will make you think differently.
