Meghan Soehn, PAg

I grew up on a small family farm in Central Alberta where livestock and grain farming were the basis of life. I attended Augustana, Faculty of the University of Alberta, where I obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science in 2006. I moved to Red Deer and took a job as Junior Environmental Consultant, drilling water wells, performing soil and water tests, and writing Phase 1 & 2 environmental site assessments.

Soon later, took a contract with Alberta Environment as an Oilfield Injection Coordinator. When this project was completed, I transitioned to Reclamation Approval Coordinator where I was responsible for reviewing applications for sand and gravel pits, as well as reviewing associated Water Act authorizations in the Central Region. While with the GOA, I was a part of many committees and groups where I not only grew as an individual, but I feel I was also able to strengthen the team as a whole.

By 2015, I was married with 3 kids and decided to move to private industry to begin my own consulting firm. Now I manage multiple clients in Central Alberta to ensure they meet their regulatory needs related to pit operations and reclamation plans, municipal requirements, and stakeholder engagement.

I have been a proud member of the AIA since 2008 and I am excited for the opportunity to run for Council as I feel my experience, both within the government as well as private industry, would be an asset for sound decision making on behalf of the AIA and helping to advance the Agrology profession.
