Any decision made by the Registrar, Registration Committee or Competence Committee may be appealed by two processes:
Reconsideration Review: Within 30 days of receiving a copy of the decision, the member may request a Reconsideration Review by giving the Registrar a written request for a review that sets out the reasons why the application should be approved with or without conditions. The meeting is held in Edmonton at the AIA office. There is no charge for this review. Details about the reconsideration review may be found here.
Formal Appeal: In the event the Registrar, the Registration Committee or the Competence Committee makes a decision about a member’s standing in the profession related to a practice permit renewal or conditions on a practice permit, the member may within 30 days after being given a copy of the decision, request a review by giving the registrar a written request for a formal appeal that sets out the reasons why the application should be approved with or without conditions. Details about the formal appeal may be found here.
